RG 00 Raiser

This was the first kit I ever built! Well, technically I built 2 kits back in 1998 when I was living in Okinawa, but I barely remember them. I bought this kit because of Austin Walker did a game of the year video last December when he was still with Giant Bomb. He sort of made fun of Gunpla videos, but watching it made me remember the 2 kits I built back in 98 so I started looking and found this guy at a Barnes and Noble.

I mostly used just a hobby knife, snapping the parts off the runners with my fingers and trimming the nub marks with my knife. I even used my knife tinstead of tweezers to put the stickers on by putting the sticker on the very tip of the blade so I could control the placement better. Once I built it I thought it looked too toy like and the stickers were just an eye sore to me. I started looking online for ways to make it look better and found a tutorial on Gunpla101 about top coats and panel lining. After a coat of Mr Hobby flat and some Gundam marker application it came out pretty decent! So here it is, my first (technically third, but whatever) Gunpla kit!

Is it just me or do the shoulder GN drives make this kit look like it's wearing American football pads? 

I've since learned to not flat coat clear parts. So foggy! 

I remember being SO impressed with the keg articulation. It reallly is an engineering feat.
