Texas Gundam Club Graze Contest
This Saturday was the Texas Gundam Club's December meetup. It was also the Graze competition, which was judged by audience vote. Check out the entries:
"Graze Reborn" This was submitted by a 9 year old dude! Impressive.
A little baseball anyone?
"Grazorg", took first place. It's easy to see why; great detail, posing and the overall theme is cohesive. This is a great display of not only skill but an overall vision that tells a story.

"Casaval's Graze" The red was painted with craft store acrylic paint, VERY impressive that he got such a good paint job with a low quality paint.

"Ron" This was my entry :) I have a full photo shoot here.
"Tallgraze" This kit was impressive to see in person. Very clean overall, and the design clearly expresses iconic elements of the Tallgese.

"Advanced Schwalbe" The red reallly popped, great choice to make it glossy.
"Graze's Edge" Took second place. The amount of customization is incredible.
"PetitegGraze" Took third place. The kit(s) itself isn't painted (or if it if it is, only in small areas) or detailed very much but the eye patch, cigar and wound on the chest says everything you need to know. The concept and flawless posing leaps out at you and more than compensates for the lack of finer detail. This piece demonstrates that you don't always need to pour hundreds of hours into modeling to get something that is unique, interesting and an expression of an artistic vision; what really matters is clean execution of a clear vision.

"Graze Launch" The work on the base is awesome and perfect. The kit itself looks great, but the posing takes it to another level. It would look great just sitting flat, but because it's propped up in the back you get an almost top down view of the base, highlighting the top. Also the mirror inside lets you get a good view of the detail on the back of the kit; an elegant way to show the entire kit from a single viewing angle.

Thanks to professional photographer Nameless Creative for taking time to photo our kits with a professional level camera. We setup my bootleg photo booth and got some great quality photos of most of the entries. I'll post them in another blog as soon as we get them.
